Inception Workshop Launches E-MOVILIZA Project

As part of the commitment to gender equality, the Urban Electric Mobility Initiative (UEMI) has awarded 17 scholarships to women aspiring to become professional drivers of buses and logistics vehicles. This initiative, supported by the Quito Public Passenger Transport Company and the Delivery Group's Messaging School, represents an important step towards closing the gender gap in the transportation sector.

To develop capabilities and provide key information to accelerate a just transition towards low-carbon electric mobility, we are collecting gender-sensitive data and developing an electric mobility baseline that can help identify the role of women and vulnerable groups in the transport sector.

The first training workshop took place on Sunday, August 18, 2024, with the participation of 14 women from recycling and courier delivery associations. The training includes both theoretical and practical classes, with a total of six sessions, for female electric cargo bike drivers in collaboration with the Sustainable Network Foundation and the Carishina en bici collective.
